DIY: Venetian Lace Mask

Tis the season for theme parties!

My work Christmas Party this year featured a masquerade theme where everyone was encouraged to come adorned in chic eye masks and cocktail wear. I’ve always loved lace decal and came across a lovely blog post that showed super easy step-by-step instructions on how to make a chic Venetian lace mask.

What you’ll need:

  • Puffy fabric paint
  • Mask template (below)
  • Sheet of tulle
  • Saran wrap
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon (optional)

You can find complete step-by-step instructions and mask template here or follow below:

  1. Print the mask template and tape down to a sturdy board. Tape a sheet of saran wrap over the template, then tape a sheet of tulle over the saran wrap. photo 1 (1)
  2. Using the fabric paint, trace over the detailing on the mask template.                                      photo 2 (1)
  3. Allow the mask to dry overnight. Cut out the mask from tulle and saran (the blog post I read asked to separate the saran from the tulle, but mine was so stuck together I couldn’t do this. It worked find with the saran still attached too!). photo 3 (1)
  4. You can add a ribbon to the sides if desired to tie around your head.                                    photo 5 (1)

Voila! Masquerade ready 🙂
